Even though it may not have felt very summery in April and May, migrating birds, and summer flowers are getting on with life as usual.   On 13 May, the weather was perfect and the visit to the Dartmoor Preservation Association land at High House Waste north of Cornwood, produced excellent sightings of four(!) cuckoos, calling and flying around most of the day.   Image

On a smaller scale, in the mire, we found a good number of pale butterwort plants Image

And, a new record for the site, by the main gate, some bog beacon fungus (Mitrula paludosa).Image

Thanks, as usual to Adam for the photos.
