The DPA is recruiting!

Could you be one of our Board members and help us to protect Dartmoor?

The Dartmoor Preservation Association has been helping to protect and enhance Dartmoor for nearly 140 years. We have a long history as a campaigning organisation, and we’re now needed more than ever to fight the threats facing our National Park.

With a new Chief Executive joining us shortly we will soon be entering an exciting time of change. We’re now seeking three new trustees to join us at this important moment and help the Association make an even bigger impact in the future.

Our trustees play a vital oversight role in governing and directing the Association. As a Board member, you will work with a small executive team to help deliver our objectives, while gaining valuable experience in the running of a small charitable organisation.

The DPA Board is a collaborative and inclusive team that values openness and different points of view. We are now looking to broaden its perspective by recruiting  individuals who will offer challenge and who will complement the existing experience on the Board. You don’t have to have much experience in a similar role, we actively encourage applicants who can provide a different way of thinking and a new voice – one which looks to the future.

We welcome applications from people who may not have sat on a board before; we will provide a tailored induction and training programme to new board members and will support them to take part on an equal footing. Although we welcome relevant experience, at this time it is less important than life skills and a passion for promoting access to the countryside and protecting and enhancing the environment.

Please also fill out our diversity monitoring form and GDPR agreement on a separate form here.

To apply, email philhutt@dartmoorpreservation.co.uk with ‘Trustee Application’ as the subject line. Please attach a copy of your CV, and a cover letter or maximum 3-minute video setting out why you are interested in becoming a trustee and how you will be able to contribute to the success of the Association.  Details about our commitment to your privacy can be found on the form.

Please note that this is a voluntary position, although reasonable expenses and access arrangements can be arranged. More information is available via the information pack.

Deadline for applications: Wednesday 31st August 2022. All applications will be acknowledged.
