In the first major review of its kind since our National Parks were established in 1949, the public is being encouraged to make its views known. This is open to everyone, whether living in a National Park or AONB; a visitor; representing an organisation, or simply caring about the environment, landscape and wildlife.
The deadline for submissions is December 18th 2018 and the review will report in 2019, seventy years after the passing of the National Parks Act which established National Parks in England.
Norman Cowling, Chairman of the DPA said: “National Parks have served the public well over nearly seventy years; they are a success story, but as challenges mount, they can do better still. As modern life for most of us becomes more frantic, noisy and polluted, the peace and tranquillity provided by our National Parks and their landscape beauty and cultural heritage become even more valuable.”
The DPA is gearing up to respond to the call for evidence, both in its own right and as part of a joint submission by all of the English and Welsh National Park Societies, orchestrated by the Campaign for National Parks.
We encourage everyone to contribute to this hugely important review. Further information about it can be found by following this link:
