Every year, August Bank Holiday Monday is the The Lustleigh Village Show – and what a show. Doors open at 10.00 am and close at 5.30 pm, a full day. There is far too much in the Show to be covered in a short blog like this one – the web site is well worth a look!
This year it was a scorcher, as the newspaper headlines would say – the hottest Summer Bank Holiday on record. The DPA attended, as we have done for several years that I know of and this year, we had an innovation – a double-fronted stand – plus a “side” as well. Our position inside the entrance was good as well as our exposure and access to the people. We were offering all the range of DPA leisure wear, books and maps (new and second-hand), jute bags, umbrellas, tea towels, mugs, zip pulls, second-hand golf balls found during clearance work, calendars and – Christmas cards.
The volunteers on this hottest of days were Derek Collins and Claude Williams, who erected the gazebos, Val Barns, and Berni and Keith Ryan. Mention should be made of Berni for selling a record number of Christmas cards on a very hot day! Next year, perhaps DPA ice cream?
As there are 35 photographs below, I am taking the easy way out and just writing captions for the photos without extra text between them. We had a Short Walk on Sunday followed by the usual blog etc. and yesterday was quite busy with Lustleigh, so today it is “take it easy” time. Here’s hoping you enjoy the photographs …..
As I wrote above, this blog post covers only a little of the show – there is much more here: The Lustleigh Village Show.
