The orchid count at the newly-acquired Pudsham Meadows was carried out on Wednesday 22 June with DPA and Devon Wildlife Trust volunteers, overseen by Naomi Barker, DNPA ecologist. The volunteers got into pairs and walked transects across the three DPA fields and a neighbouring field. About 3,400 orchids were counted in the DPA meadows. The weather was kind and it was a very pleasant way of spending a few hours. The photograph shows Naomi Barker demonstrating identification of orchids.
